Emmy Kosgei: My Nigerian Man Treats Me Like a Queen

Gospel artiste Emmy Kosgei’s engagement to a Nigerian pastor has been the talk of town for almost a month now.

Emmy is set to tie the knot with the Revival AssemblyChurch head pastor, Anselm Madubuko. This is just a year since the Nigerian lost his wife of over 20 years. The announcement has attracted various reactions, with some people speculating that the pastor is too old for Emmy.

But speaking to The Nairobian this week, she has strongly defended the man, who is a self-confessed former playboy and cultist.

“Do not panic for me, I’m a grown up. I’m sorry but I could not have got married to all my admirers,” she said.

Emmy candidly spoke about her future husband, a father of three, describing him as the ‘ideal’ man

“I’m very happy. He treats me like a queen, respects my career and understands what I go through since we are in a similar field,” says she.

She, however, declined to give details. “That is my private life and people should not be bothered,” said the musician.

It is said the pastor has visited Emmy’s father, Rev Jackson Kosgey, several times. Madubuko has been quoted saying: “The truth is that God brought her to me… When my wife passed on, I was completely clueless and I began to pray. God showed her (Emmy) to me. She refused my advances initially but after some time through prophesies and so on, she said yes.”

Apostle Madubuko met Emmy in Kenya in 2010 during one of his visits to the country and Emmy had performed at a conference he attended. The pastor is said to have picked her out during a show in Mombasa. He organised a big show for the Kenyan in Lagos and she was pleasantly surprised to find her billboards in keylocations in the city. There was no doubt the man of God was out to impress her.

He later organised a concert for her in London, where he owns property. That finally broke any ‘resistance’ and they became an item.

James Chuchu, Pastor Anslem Madubuko‘s assistant, told The Nairobian the weddingwill be held at the end of the month. The traditional ceremony in Kenya will be held at the Kelelwa Village off Moi’s Kelelwa Farm on Ravine highway.

Another ceremony will be held at Revival Miracle Cathedral in Lagos. A reception will follow later at Sheraton Hotel, Lagos.

“Both families have met and they are okay with this. The wedding will take place in Kenya on the last week of August,” Pastor James Chuchu said, adding that there will be another wedding in Lagos.

Taunet Nelel means ‘new beginning’ and Emmy’s life seems to have turned a new page. The pastor is said to have bought a house for her in Kileleshwa and a Prado.

This is not the first time that Emmy’s love life has been on the spotlight. Not long ago, the top Kalenjin gospel music singer abruptly broke up with a media personality, Linus Kaikai. It is claimed Emmy’s family rejected the media man.

“I don’t know why everyone keeps bringing up the case about Linus. I do not want to discuss him, his marriage or anything about his life,” said the Ololo singer.

Rumours also swirled in the past linking him to current Deputy President William Ruto. The politician even made a joke of it on the Churchill Live comedy show.
