ICC investigator to meet Moses Kuria over witness fixing claims

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is seeking to question Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria over his recent public remarks regarding alleged procurement of witnesses.

In two email exchanges that the Nation has seen, the court wants to “discuss recent articles suggesting that you and Martha Karua were involved in in procuring witnesses resulting in ICC prosecutions”.

The meeting will take place on Friday, October 9, at Parliament.

In the emails, the court investigator remains non-committal on whether Mr Kuria is being questioned as a potential suspect or witness in the ongoing cases.

“Subject to our discussions today, and your request that I correspond to you by email, I would like to meet you in Nairobi,” an email from an ICC investigator, dated September 29, states.

According to the ICC, the meeting would be to “ascertain the accuracy of the statements attributed to you in the media during a recorded interview, should you be so willing”.

The correspondences indicate it is Mr Kuria who suggested the meeting to take place at Parliament Buildings.

“In principal I have no problem meeting with you and/or your team. However, kindly clarify whether you would want me to meet you as someone with information that may help you, in which case I do not require my lawyers present or you would want to talk to me as a suspect in which case I need to invite my lawyers,” Mr Kuria said in the e-mail.
