The Seahawks’ flurry of third-round picks ended with the Seahawks picking their second offensive lineman in as many days, Boise State’s Rees Odhiambo. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Odhiambo played tackle at Boise State, but the Seahawks are listing him as a guard.

“The feeling is unbelievable,” Odhiambo said. “It just felt so surreal because I was just sitting in there making dinner, not even paying attention anymore to the draft. When my phone was ringing, I was like, there’s no way. I just picked it up and then once I knew who it was, I was so excited.”

Odhiambo, who earned first-team All-Conference honors in 2015, said he is eager to come in and compete wherever the Seahawks want him to play. Like Seahawks second-round pick Germain Ifedi, Odhiambo was worked out by Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Cable at his Pro Day.

“I haven’t played guard before, but I know I’m versatile, so I’m not too worried about it,” said Odhiambo, who moved from Kenya to the United States with his mom and sister when he was seven. “I’m just ready to come in there and compete.”

Coincidentally, Odhiambo was in Seattle for the draft with his college roommate, Marcus Henry, a Bellevue High product.

“I’ve made a few trips here before,” Odhiambo said. “Every time I come out here to hang out with my roommate.”

With the Odhiambo pick, the Seahawks used all three third-rounders on offensive players, taking Notre Dame running back C.J. Prosise, Ohio State tight end Nick Vannett and Odhiambo in quick succession.

“I feel like it will be a great fit,” Odhiambo said. “I’m just looking to come in there and just competing and having fun, and continue to play football.”
