And the Wiper leader says he will be making similar tours to Gatundu, Kiambu and other places where Jubilee enjoys massive support.

The president will be launching several development projects in the region where he is targeting 300,000 votes in his re-election bid next year.

And has Kalonzo said Uhuru is welcome to the region because Kenya has matured democratically.

“We welcome the president to Ukambani as we are aware his main agenda is to hunt for votes,” Kalonzo said.

He said Uhuru’s tour is a vote hunting mission disguised as visit to commission development projects.

Kalonzo said he had initiated the major projects Uhuru will be launching while he was the vice president in former grand coalition government.

The wiper leader says the Jubilee administration withdrew funding for the projects after taking power.

The projects include the tarmacking of the Kibwezi-Mutomo-Kitui road which Kalonzo launched in April 2011.

Former roads minister Franklin Bett spearheaded the construction but the contractor, Sino Hydro pulled out for lack of funds.

Uhuru is also expected to award a charter to the Machakos University college but Kalonzo says he was instrumental in upgrading the college while he was the VP.

The others include the 5000 acres multimillion Wikithuki irrigation scheme, the Mwingi – Kandwia- Maua road and the Tseikuru airstrip whose target was to airlift fresh produce from the Irrigation scheme.

Kalonzo is touring the region ahead of Uhuru urging his supporters to be steadfast in the Cord coalition.

“A lot of enticements and goodies are coming your way to sway you to the other side. Eat them unsparingly but remain “Corded”,” Kalonzo told crowds in various stopovers in Makueni county.

He is accompanied by area leaders including Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Women rep Rose Museo and several MPs and MCAs.

A section of regional leaders including senators David Musila, (Kitui), Johnson Muthama (Machakos) and Kilonzo Junion have vowed to ensure Uhuru’s votes basket returns from the region empty.

Uhuru’s point-men in the region led by Machakos governor Alfred Mutua and Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu are working day and night to deliver the Kamba votes to Jubilee in the 2017 general election.

They recently led several MPs from the region to take 10, 000 professionals and selected residents to State House for a meeting where development matters were discussed.
