MP Reveals Countries ‘Funding’ Raila

IEBC ProtestMP Reveals Countries ‘Funding’ Raila: Starehe Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda claims that Opposition leader Raila Odinga is allegedly receiving funding from neighbouring countries of Tanzania and South Sudan.

Speaking during a press conference on Monday, the Jubilee lawmaker stated that President John Magufuli of Tanzania, South Sudan’s Salva Kiir and other foreign powers were financing the former Prime Minister to destabilise Kenya.

“Raila has been touring all over. We know he is seeking funds from these governments with an intention of destabilising Kenya. You go ahead but we will not allow you,” Kamanda said during a press conference at a Nairobi hotel.

Meanwhile, Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe indicated that two countries had been conspiring with undisclosed persons to cause insecurity through charged political activities.

“Investigations have yielded intelligence to the effect that there are individuals within the country who are working with two neighbouring countries to subvert the Government and create conditions of instability, insecurity, lawlessness and strife,” disclosed Kiraithe.

The spokesman added that upon completion of investigations, the government would publicise identities of the persons in question, to avoid compromising national security.

“In due course, the Government will be revealing the results of our investigations, and unmasking these despicable traitors,” declared the former police spokesman.

The opposition has been staging protests in the past four weeks, demanding for the restructuring of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which it accuses of being bias.
