Doing things that are not of value:Time to order our priorities as believers.

Evangelist Isabella MwangoIt is easy to be caught in the daily news and being occupied with what all the news media is talking about. News has become one thing that has robed us not only our precious time we could be spending on reading a self-development book, cleaning our house, spending time with our loved ones and even helping our kids with home. We want to know what presidential candidates said and do our own fact checks. Many people could not concentrate on watching the Olympics because they wanted to watch politics more than watch those men and women competing to win prizes.  We easily get lured to doing things that are not of value, it’s not bad to watch or read political news, but we should not spend all our time and energy on one thing, we talk about it, we repeat the word of these people and we critic them. We are really having fun.  Are we taking time to ask ourselves as believers, what is in the heart and mind of God about what is happening in the country today.

What is God saying to you and me in all these world events. We need to be careful and read the signs of the times. We must think about   our priorities and ask ourselves who is first in our lives? We cannot lie to ourselves nor can we play games at this. We must watch how we spend our daily time. If our priorities are mixed, we end up spending time on the wrong thing and doing the wrong things.  God must be your first priority, then family and third is your career. What is in your prayer list today, is it money, wealth, health a job, regardless of what you need from God, our priority should be intimacy with him, then all things will follow. David said this in the book of Psalm “One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold cthe1beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple”. David knew his priority, if we keep God first then we will know what he is asking us to do in this hour, we will know what he is saying and act according to what we hear him say.

We must believe that God is still in control and he knew and for saw this coming, and that he has made a way of escape or away out. Only God has the answer to the activates and cries of the world today, and he expects us to seek him for direction. We must believe in the power of God we must be determined to believe that God will deliver us, as his people that God will heal and restore everything that the devil wants to steal from this country or even our own families. Our place is to believe in his power and his ability. We cannot be deists and expect God to move on our behalf. Deists believe that, at the end of the First Century, God retired, the age of miracles is gone and the supernatural ceased, God does not answer prayers and so why pray anyway. But the word of God says in Hebrews:  13:8 “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Malachi 3:6 says God never changes. There is no way we can cope with the evil of end time society in our own strength. Our only hope is to turn to a God who is alive and well, who hears prayer and answers prayer, and who still performs miracles. who is still on the throne

Believing in his power then calls for us to stand in the word, standing in the word in faith, knowing that God’s word is true, his promises are true, he does not shortchange himself. We must know what we believe in, we sit at the age of deception, we have been deceived even as believers and do not know it, we have not discerned man made words from God’s word. We have failed to stand up against the drama that goes on in the body of Christ because we ceased to be God pleasers and seekers and became men pleasers and seekers. It is no wonder a believing Christian will say they believe in God but will not say they believe. Anyone of us can be deceived but we can refuse to be deceived by staying focused in the word of God, living the word and proclaiming the truth.

As we watch the events of the world filled with fear, and uncertainties’ we must keep and be led by an eternal perspective. John 17:11 says though we are in the world we do not belong to the world. This means that we must hate the evil world system in society. We are to hate a system that creates encourages, glorifies immorality and violence. We are to separate ourselves from those friends who cause division among friends those who lie and cause un peaceful moments among friends, we have to separate ourselves from those who seek to control and manipulate us for their earthly gain. We have to become watchmen on the wall denying any form of Un godliness. As C. S. Lewis wrote, “We are to live like commandos behind the enemy lines, preparing the way for the coming of the Commander-in-Chief.” We are to live expecting and longing for the day when Jesus will come from the heavens to bring peace, righteousness to the earth.

If we come to truly believe that Jesus is returning and may return any moment, we will be will be motivated to holiness and evangelism knowing that time is short. Our quality our faith should never decrease when life turns sour, or when disappointment sets in. We turn to God and not turn our backs on him and question him or even curse him of not being who he says he is.  One of the keys to hanging tough in faith is to learn the promises of God’s  word Memorize  Philippians 4:6-7, 11-13, and 19  claim  the in prayer throughout the day when confronted with life’s challenges.

In conclusion, what are your priorities in life today, do you practice tough faith, do you live with an eternal perspective, are you driven by a holy hunger and thirsty to see God glorified today in your life? Are you praying the will of God over this elections?  Let us join hands and pray God’s will on earth today, let us seek his face and spend time in his presence, he will hear us, he will respond. It is time to set our priorities right and not be caught unware. Our father’s desire is that he finds us standing and in faith.

Till next week, have a blessed week and fil your mind with the goodness of the Lord.
