Kalonzo feted as the African Dignitary Man of the Year

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 20- Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka was on Friday feted as the African Dignitary Man of the Year by a humanitarian organisation, We Care for Humanity.

This was in recognizance of his long time humanitarian works of caring for the needy in the society through the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation.

The Wiper Leader was also recognized for his efforts in the integration process of Kenyan’s who had been internally displaced by the 2007-2008 post election violence.

He was hailed for his efforts to bring Peace in Sudan during his tenure as the Kenya’s Foreign minister which gave birth to the Newest Nation state, South Sudan.

“On the basis of your unequivocal contribution to humanity, by demonstrating selflessness, caring for the less privileged, and your spirit of unity and integrity, I have the pleasure to announce that the GOD Awards Committee have reached a unanimous decision to recognize Your Excellency as AFRICAN DIGNITARY MAN OF THE YEAR. ”, the letter of nomination reads.

“It is our strong belief that your accomplishments should be shared with and showcased before the global audience at the United Nations.”

He has also initiated a multi-million project, The Mama Malia Academy that caters for orphaned children and the most vulnerable from destitute families.

The academy now houses over 300 children from allover Kenya.

The former Vice President now joins the list of Eminent Leaders who have been feted with the same honors including former President of Zambia Kenneth Kaunda (Lifetime Achievement on Freedom 2015), the 10th President of Bangladesh Muhammad Ershad (Lifetime Achievement on Courage 2015) and Khil Raj Regmi, Former Prime Minister of Nepal (Dignitary Man of the Year, 2015).

We Care for Humanity, the 4th Global Officials of Dignity Awards nominating body, recognizes eminent personalities who have contributed to sustainable solutions to global issues such as Human Rights, World Peace, Green Environment, Education, Health, Eradication of Poverty and Empowerment.

“The Foundation is geared towards ensuring that as many Kenyan’s as possible are uplifted from poverty through education. So far, thousands of students have benefited from the Foundation. The Foundation’s main aim is to promote the ideals that include development through the creation of a just, healthy, peaceful and democratic society” reads the Foundations mission statement.

Among those who attended the Friday ceremony included Kenya’s permanent representative at the UN, Ambassador Macharia Kamau and his deputy Koki Muli.
