Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has downplayed plans by former ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba to form a party to battle it out with Cord and Jubilee in 2017.
Omar said the purported third party is a plot by Jubilee to scatter votes in Cord-dominated zones. Speaking at the Kilifi scout camping site on Sunday, Omar said Namwamba is wasting time selling the idea at the Coast. “The only forces we have for the 2017 election are Cord and Jubilee,” he said.
Attending the launch of Federal Alliance Party of Kenya in Jaribuni on Saturday, Namwamba said he will not join Cord or Jubilee, but will form a third force. He urged leaders to join the party to avoid the oppression by Jubilee and Cord. “This is the time we should reawaken the bond that existed between Western Kenya and the Coast.
The same way Masinde Muliro worked with Ronald Ngala is the same way we should work,” Namwamba said.
