ODM Will Now Pay Demonstrators Sh20,000 if They Get Injured

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has reduced the compensation amount given to supporters injured during demonstrations organized by the party.

In June, Cord leader Raila Odinga announced that those injured by police during the Anti-IEBC demos would receive Sh60,000 each. Families of those killed were to be given Sh300,000.

It now seems like the party has reduced compensation to the injured by Sh40,000. ODM Homa Bay county chairperson, Gladys Wanga, on Sunday said that victims will now get Sh20,000.

“The party is issuing money to victims of police brutality in solidarity with their course to protest against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC),” ms Wanga was quoted by Daily Nation.

At least 20 people were injured in the demos, and several killed.
