PHOTOS:The biggest Kenyans get-together in UK

Kenya High Commissioner in the UK HE Lazarus Amayo and his wife Mrs. Nelly Amayo together their daughter joined Kenyans community in the UK at Kenya and friends in the Park where over 5,000 Kenyans attended the event. The successful event took place at Plaistow Park in East London and Kenyans from all walks of life came well dressed for the occasion with different Kenyan attires. Several companies from Kenya had a stand in the Park among them  Kenya Commercial Bank of Kenya, Aberdares Spa and Safari Lodges, Kings Pride Properties, Cheriez Properties etc.

A large number of Kenyan businesses in UK had a stand at the park. There were long lines for people queuing for food and drinks and people enjoyed nyama choma and ugali among other food items. The business team started arriving at the park as early as 6.00 a.m. in the morning and the guests started coming in as early as 9.00 a.m. By mid-day the park was almost full while the last person left the park at 1.30 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Kenyans from all UK cities came and most of them had booked hotels in London for the sleep over. All Kenyans joints in London were full by 8.00 p.m. Thatched House the most popular Kenyan joint in UK had to close the door as the house was full. Their was draw for Kenya Airways raffle tickets where one winner go a return ticket from Kenya Airways.

The Kenya High Commissioner in the UK HE Amayo addressed the guests  but as he addressed the guests business was going as usual because the park was too big to control. Later he toured all the stands before leaving the park at about 7.30 p.m. The event went on peacefully without any major incident and lost children was an item with broadcasters.

Master of Ceremony was James Smart of KTN TV Kenya. The event was organised by several Kenyans in UK among them Lydiah Olet of Malaika Dance, Mercy Kiminta and Mr. Seed as the patron. The next Kenya and Friends in the Park event takes place on 5th August, 2017 where we are looking for a bigger venue. More later.
