Deputy President William Ruto on Friday kicked off his tour of the Coast region, where he inspected ongoing national government projects and distributed more than 1,000 title deeds to Kilifi County residents.
Accompanied by a group of Coast politicians, led by ODM rebel and Kilifi North MP Gideon Munga’aro, Mr Ruto said the Jubilee administration has earmarked more projects for the region.
The Deputy President issued 1,356 title deeds and also presided over a fundraising to support 800 Silc women groups in Rabai.
“We have issued thousands of title deeds in this region and we shall continue to issue the land ownership documents until all the land problems at the Coast are resolved,” Mr Ruto said at Dr Kraph Grounds in Rabai.
The Deputy President dismissed talk from some politicians that the Coast was an Opposition zone, saying Jubilee was an action-oriented administration that was already implementing all aspects of development projects to benefit the region and its people.
“Those claiming that the Coast is a Cord zone are lying to themselves. As far as I know, you are all in Jubilee and you are waiting to surprise the Opposition next year,” Mr Ruto said on Thursday at the start of his one week tour of the region’s six counties.
Mr Ruto also announced that the government had set aside Sh800 million towards the Last Mile projects to connect households to electricity.
He singled out the building of the standard gauge railway, expected to be complete before 2017 polls, as one of his government’s key achievements.
JUBILEE AGENDA
Consequently, Mr Ruto asked Coast residents to vote for Jubilee for a second term to continue with its agenda to develop all regions and unite Kenyans.
He dismissed the Opposition as noise makers who did not have the interest of the people.
“Will you follow that side which is known for staging street protests or the one which is known for implementing projects,“ posed Mr Ruto to the cheering crowd.
Mr Ruto said the difference between Cord and Jubilee was like day and night because whereas the Jubilee government advocates for unity and cohesion in the country, Cord was busy structuring tribal leadership that he said would not take Kenya anywhere.
“The new Jubilee Alliance Party will have the face of all Kenyans, and it will not be tribal party like what we are currently witnessing where the opposition is busy dividing Kenyans into tribal outfit,” he said.
Mr Ruto said that all Kenyans must remain as one adding that cohesion and integration is the only key to prosperity in our nation.
Mr Mung’aro who was described by his fellow politicians as the “King of Coast politics” announced he would take on Governor Amason Kingi in next year’s General Elections.
‘DREAM TEAM’
Mr Mung’aro told the crowd in Rabai that his decision to dump Cord and work with the Jubilee government was the quest to have development come to the region.
“When I lead my colleagues to the government, I did not do it blindly. We had to agree on what the region was expecting from the Jubilee government. I need not say. Everything is clear and if you have eyes you can see for yourselves,” he said.
Mr Mung’aro said he will soon announce the Kilifi dream team which will lead the movement for his election as the Kilifi governor. He said he will also talk with Rabai MP William Kamoti to see if he can join Jubilee.
“Jubilee is currently the winning side. I fail to understand why my colleague Mr Kamoti is still in ODM despite the challenges of that party. I will tell him to quit and join this winning team,” said Mr Mung’aro.
However, a defiantDefiant Kamoti said it was the people who will give directions.
“Just continue to implement projects and the people are watching. When the time comes, they will speak and not me,” he said.
The Deputy President also toured the ongoing construction of Mavueni –Kaloleni highway before addressing residents at Kaloleni, Chasimba and Mavueni.
He is also expected at Msambweni in Kwale before returning to Kilifi on Saturday.
