A standard eight pupil sustained injuries after she was allegedly beaten by a pastor at the Winners’ Chapel in Eldoret for attending a service at a different church.
The pupil has been unable to attend school due to the injuries, prompting calls by her parents and a human rights activist that the pastor be arrested and prosecuted.
Activist Ken Wafula has accused the church of failing to act on the case, which was reported at the Eldoret police station.
He said they would carry out protests if police do not take necessary action.
But Eldoret West police boss Samwel Mutunga said they had received the report and were investigating the incident.
The pupil was issued with a P3 form following the incident and she complained that she had been caned all over her body.
Officials at the church declined to comment on the issue.
