President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have arrived at Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani for the launch of Jubilee Party.

The President and his deputy received a rousing welcome when they entered the stadium at 1.30 pm.

Thousands of delegates are in the stadium for the launch of the party, that will be used by President Kenyatta to seek re-election next year.

The delegates started streaming into the stadium as early as six and more are still queuing at the gates.

Security is tight in and out of the stadium. Police officers and members of the National Youth Service were deployed to man all entrances.

MPs, senators, governors and other leaders are in the stadium.

Some of the opposition leaders have joined Jubilee supporters in welcoming Jubilee Party.

They include Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, who has ditched ODM for the new outfit.

Karachuonyo MP James Rege, former Cabinet Ministers Raphael Tuju and Nicholas Biwott are among those attending.

On Friday, an estimated 12,000 delegates ratified the Jubilee Party.
