Why a special bull will be slaughtered for William ole Ntimama

Late cabinet minister William ole Ntimama will be honoured with the slaughter of a sacred bull before his burial.

According to Maasai tradition, a special bull will be slaughtered in honour of the late Wiliam ole Ntimama.

According to Hassan ole Kamwaro, the burial committee chairman the family of the former cabinet minister will provide a special bull with uniform colours and no blemishes on its body.

“Culturally,when a person of Ntimama’s stature dies, a big bull is identified among the herd. As at now, we are in the process of getting one and in case there is none found in his herd, his oldest son will have to get one,” Kamwaro said.

The bull will be slaughtered as per Maasai custom and the meat served to the late former cabinet minister’s  age mates and other elders before he is buried at his family home.

According to Hassan ole Kamwaro, the burial committee chairman the family of the former cabinet minister will provide a special bull with uniform colours and no blemishes in its body.

The elders will then bless the body of Ntimama before he is buried.

The former cabinet minister died on Thursday night, September 1, in his sleep.

Why a special bull will be slaughtered for William ole Ntimama

His family confirmed that his burial will take place on Saturday, September 10, at his family home in Motonyi, Narok county.

Ntimama will be buried next to the graves of his three deceased children, Martha who died in 1989, Drake in 2003 and Caroline in 2006.
