EACC should fight corruption not my ‘fake’ papers, says MP

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has hit out at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chief executive officer Halakhe Waqo over claims that he forged certificates to seek nomination for the March 4, 2013 elections.

Speaking at Kesses Sub County, Uasin Gishu, Mr Sudi said EACC should stop intimidating leaders and direct its efforts at fighting corruption in the counties.

“I want to tell Halakhe stop intimidating leaders. EACC has lots of challenges. It should not be used to interfere with people who are busy developing this country. Let it dedicate itself in fighting against corruption especially in counties. They should track national leaders embezzling public money,” said Sudi.

The Kapseret MP boasted that since he was elected, he had performed well especially in the Community Development Fund management.

Mr Sudi took a swipe at the EACC saying “I’m not in a problem because others are saying I have no academic papers. I’m not a fool. I asked for votes in the last election not because I was a professor. Professors should be lecturing at institutions of higher learning.”

The legislator was responding a report that was released last month by the EACC revealing that his Diploma in Business Management and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education were fake.
