Thika parliamentary seat aspirants are on a mission to outdo each other’s wit as the race towards unseating Hon Alice Ng’ang’a gains momentum.
Morris Mburu and Patrick Wainaina have distributed hundreds of success cards to KCPE candidates within Thika constituency and while at it urged the pupils to remind their parents and older relatives to vote for them.
Some of the pupils Nairobi News spoke to at St Patrick Primary School said they are pleased to receive the cards because they have unique tunes.
“We don’t like those cards bearing annoying tunes, we prefer these ones in as much as we know we have received them from people who are using us to endear themselves to our parents in order to be voted as area Member of Parliament,” said one of the pupils at St Patrick’s.
In Gucha, Kisii County, Standard Eight pupils of Nyandiwa Primary School are currently doing exams branded with Sylvanus Osoro’s name. Mr Osoro is a parliamentary aspirant.
This comes barely days after Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i directed that the ongoing mock examinations whose papers bear Siaya Governor Cornell Rasanga’s portrait be cancelled.
The minister has also interdicted the county director of education and six sub-county directors and dissolved the Siaya County Education Board.
