According to reports, the riders in Mumias East had been hired by ANC to escort Mudavadi’s convoy and to make him ‘look popular’. They were about 200 of them each set to take home Sh500. The total amount Mudavadi was supposed to pay was Sh100,000, but after the rally, the agreement was not honored.

“We entered into an agreement with organiser David Wamatsi that we would be paid Sh500 each after the rally.”

“We moved from Nyaporo, Isongo, Malaha, Shikulu to Kamashia and back to Shianda but the ANC members went without honouring our contract,” Peter Osundwa, the bodaboda association treasurer told The Star.

The agitated riders blocked Kakamega-Mumias, hurling insults at Mudavadi and burning his portraits. “If they cannot manage to pay this small number of motorcycle operators, how will they manage to run the country with billions of shillings?” one of the riders posed.

The group threatened to camp outside Mudavadi’s home until they get paid for their services.
