DEVOTION: HEAVEN IS STILL IN CONTROL!-In the year that King Uzziah died

DEVOTION: HEAVEN IS STILL IN CONTROL!-In the year that King Uzziah diedThe presidential elections of the United States of America concluded this morning. Now there is a new President elect who will take over from the current President. Because of the retorick of this presidential elect during the campaign period, many immigrants and countries around the world are fearful of the unexpected. How should believers react or respond to this outcome of this presidential election? Here is a passage that speaks directly into this situation.

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;

             the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. Isaiah 6:1-4

This passage records a vision of heaven that was revealed to the prophet Isaiah during a very critical moment for the nation of Israel. It was the year, King Uzziah died. It was a fearful and very uncertain time for the nation of Israel. There was a need to hear from God about the future of the nation. God responded to this need by revealing this vision to the prophet Isaiah.

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.

Isaiah 6:1

While there was fear and uncertainty, here on earth, heaven was not affected by the events in the land of Israel. The Almighty God was still seated on His throne. King Uzziah’s death did not affect the daily activities in heaven.

Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;

the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Isaiah 6:2-3

There is a critical and very relevant lesson for us today that relates directly to the outcome of this presidential election of United States of America. While there will be a change of leadership in United States, there is no change of events in heaven. God is still on the throne. Angels are continuing to worship Him continually. God is still in control. Therefore, we shouldn’t fear anything. Listen to the following promises from God.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed,

For I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

This promised was given to the Jewish people on their way to exile. God gave them assurance that He will be with them in a foreign land where they were heading as exiles. This promise is appropriate for all the immigrants in America. Do not fear! God is with you. He will not leave you.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

The second promise was given to the Jewish people in exile. Considering that they were to be there for seventy years, most of them, if not all, had lost hope of returning back to the promise-land. This promise, assured them of a bright future.

In light of these promises, Immigrants in America shouldn’t be scared. Instead, they should trust in the Lord for their protection and provision.

Yes! There will be a new president on January 20th, 2017. But Heaven is still in control. There is no change of events. God is still in control. He is same today, yesterday, and forever. He is the Alpha and Omega.

APPLICATION:

1.     Is it possible that your security was dependent on President Barack Obama? In other words, were you at peace and secure during his presidency? Read the following verse:

This is what the Lord says:

“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,

Who draws strength from mere flesh

And whose heart turns away from the Lord.

Jeremiah 17:5a

2.     On the other hand, we shouldn’t fear any king because God can change their heart.

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord,

Like the rivers of water;

He turns it wherever He wishes.

Proverbs 21:1

3.     How does this vision of Isaiah speak to you concerning the outcome of this presidential election of the United States of America?

4.     How then should you respond to this outcome?

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.

Isaiah 6:1

Yes! There was a major upset in this presidential election.

But

HEAVEN IS STILL IN CONTROL!
