CCM organising secretary Joshua Cheruiyot said prior to the opening, Moi and Rutto will chair a meeting of over 500 leaders from across the country at 9.30am.

He said several Rift Valley leaders who do not have confidence in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party have shown interest.

“Of late our party has registered several leaders who have foreseen shattering of JP after nominations” he said.

He said those who have confirmed attendance include MPs Zakayo Cheruiyot (Kuresoi South), Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), Johana Ngrleno (Emurua Dikkir) and Kanu secretary general Nick Salat, among others.

Salgaa is placed in Rongai subcounty where Raymond Moi is MP on a Kanu ticket.

The opening is taking place at a time when rebel leaders from the region are engaging with various opposition leaders on strategies to send Jubilee packing in 2017 by weakening Deputy President William Ruto.

This may also crippled Ruto’s presidential bid in the 2011 general election.

Two days ago, ODM leader Raila Odinga held private talks with Governor Rutto in his Chepalungu home.

The two declined to divulge what they talked about, insisting it was a normal visit between friends.
