Kenyans and East Africans in the diaspora have been encouraged to attend a series of investment forums organised by Equity Bank on emerging investment opportunities in the region.

The team from Equity Bank will be headed by Dr. James Mwangi who is the Equity Bank Group CEO and Chairman of Kenya’s Vison 2030.

The pursuit for greener opportunities has seen numerous East Africans fly to the United States, either for business or for employment.

However, many East Africans maintain ties to their motherland with grand plans of finally returning home when the time is ripe.

Unfortunately, there is always a challenge in investing their surplus income in East Africa with many falling victim to mischievous relatives and other individuals who are entrusted with investing on behalf of those in the diaspora.

Dr Mwangi and his team of Equity Bank executives will be empowering the East African diaspora community on the benefits of investing at home with the assistance of a trusted institutional partner that has amassed a wealth of experience through its operations in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Uganda.

Unlike the United States where economic growth is oscillating between one and three percent, East Africa is home to some of the fastest growing economies in the world with a growth rate of between five and ten percent.

As the economies grow, the markets have in the last decade attracted numerous international investors in the region with a focus on infrastructure.

“We have thought it wise to come and dialogue with you, as your bank so that we can enlighten you on these opportunities with the hope that you will be able to invest back home while it’s still not too expensive or too competitive,” Dr Mwangi said of his much-anticipated tour.

The first session will be held in Los Angeles on Thursday 8th of December followed by a second one in Dallas on Friday 9th.

On Saturday 10th, the team will be in Atlanta before moving to Boston on Saturday the 11th while the final session will take place in New Jersey on 12th of December.

  1. Not all of us could fly to the above four named cities. A better planing of visiting major cities would be highly appreciated by all Kenyans.
