According to a memo circulated to public departments in the county, only patients will be exempted from the directive issued by Governor Moses Akaranga.

“All departments are directed to verify the Voter Registration of every resident seeking services from the department serving him/her.

“Only patients seeking medical attention will not be subjected to the above,” he added.

The government officials were authorised to ensure that service seekers send their ID numbers to 22464 to verify their registration.

If they are not registered they will be asked to register and failure to do so, they will be denied services.

The Mass Voter Registration (MVR) exercise kicked off on Monday morning with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) targeting at registering between four to six million voters to hit its target of 22 million voters for the August election.

In the 2013 General Election, IEBC had registered 14.4 million voters, a target that it deemed unsatisfactory hence its efforts to hit its target of 22 million voters for the next election.
