ITARC Mission 2017 Kenya-Changing Life Through Excellence

Dear Family and Friends,

Innovative Technologies Advancement & Research Campus (ITARC), a 501(c)3 US based non-profit organization made up of a group of professionals in the USA (Diaspora), is planning a 14 days trip to East Africa, Kenya. ITARC is simply amazing! They provide food, clothes, education, surgeries, medical services and love to our communities in Africa.

Blessing was a single 45 years old mother from a small village in Rombo, Loitoktok. She had two daughters aged 16 and 18 years. Her husband passed away at an early age of 29 years in a hit and run auto accident leaving her with an infant and 2 year old daughter. She had just a little income of about Kenya shillings 100.00 ($1.00) per day from her garden in which she grew vegetables and sold to neighbors. She used the money on food and school fees. She could not afford to spend any money on drugs and medication let alone paying for bus fare to the nearest hospital 20 miles away.

But she had health concerns! She continued to ignore her fainting spells. She often brushed them off as fatigue. But on this fateful day, she fainted and lost consciousness at home. Neighbors hired a “boda boda” (local taxi) and rushed her to the hospital. She was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. It had spread and could not be treated. She passed away within two weeks leaving her orphaned children in the care of her elderly mother (Naana, 80 years old). This is just one of the sad letters we receive from our families in Kenya, pleading for our help.

With your help, ITARC feels that it can intervene to eradicate such painful, unexpected but preventable incidents. During the forthcoming Kenya Medical Mission in September 2017, the women and men will be taught self-ex-amination on common health conditions such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, testing sugar levels, monitor blood pressure, etc. They will meet with medical professionals within their midst and locations. With your donations and support it will be possible to create a network of local medical professions and social workers who will respond quickly and regularly.

Flights to the other side of the world are costly and we want to be sure that all those accompanying us in our mission and with a heart to help others, are funded and able to dedicate their free services to desperate families like Blessing’s, her orphaned children and elderly parents.
