Chase Bank makes new executive appointments

Chase Bank has appointed two executives, Chege Thumbi and Ezekiel Owuor as the Group Director of Operations and Technology and Ezekiel Owuor, General Manager Consumer Banking, respectively. The appointments are part of a broader strengthening of the bank’s operational and service excellence, aligned to its strategic growth outlook.

Chege Thumbi – Director, Group Operations and Technology

Chege Thumbi joins the bank as the Director, Group Operations and Technology. In his role, Chege will leverage his diverse experience in the banking sector and the technology industry in establishing and managing the Group’s shared service function by providing technology and service delivery solutions across Chase Group of companies including Rafiki DTM, and Chase Assurance. He will also be instrumental in implementing the bank’s strategy. Chege joins Chase Bank from NIC Bank where he was the Director Technology & Operations.

Ezekiel Owuor – General Manager, Consumer Banking

Ezekiel Owuor- Chase Bank General Manager,Consumer Banking

Ezekiel joins Chase Bank as the General Manager,Consumer Banking. With more than 20 years of experience in the local banking and finance sector, he isresponsible for strategic leadership in growing the Bank’s balance sheet by developing, driving revenue generation and implementing the bank’s strategy. He will be also instrumental in leading the retail segment, which covers a full spectrum of products and services across different retail customer segments. He brings a deep understanding and insight to the implementation of Chase Bank’s Retail Banking strategy. Ezekiel joins the bank from Pan African Life Assurance where he served as the General Manager in charge of Retail Business.

Commenting on the appointments, Chase Bank Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Paul Njaga, said that Chege and E zekiel’s appointments represent newly created positions that reflect Chase Bank’s strategic positioning.He noted that the business environment continues to change and Chase Bank is keen to diversify its business portfolio for sustainable growth and continued enhancement of customer service.

“We believe modern banking will continue to evolve with the changing needs of the consumer. As such, our primary goal is to continually hone the versatility of our proposition by offering better technology andan improved gamut of products that meet our customers’ needs. These are significant appointments for the Group and we are delighted to welcome Chege and Ezekielto team Chase Group,” said Mr. Njaga.
