The majority leader in the national assembly Aden Duale has called for national unity and warned leaders across the country against fuelling religious intolerance.
Speaking at a church ceremony in Tana River County, Duale said he fully supported ongoing operations so long as the rights of kenyans enshrined in the constitution are not abused
The majority leader in the national assembly has been in the spotlight over his recent remarks on ongoing security operations, but he sought to clear the air at an event at the redeemed gospel church in Mororo In Tana-River County, where 13 women graduated after attending a tailoring course there.
He and Bura Mp Ali Wario cautioned leaders against fuelling religious intolerance in the country.
Duale said that he fully backed ongoing security operations so long as rights of Kenyan citizens were not abused.
Duale stated that as the majority leader, he had an obligation to serve all Kenyans irrespective of their religion and tribe.
Duale says President Uhuru Kenyatta has assured members of the Muslim community that they were not being targeted and security officers must therefore ensure that the rights of all Kenyans are respected during the ongoing operations.
The majority leader has in the past evoked angry reactions from his jubilee alliance counterparts but he insists that he has not opposed the security operations but has only called for the exercise to be carried out within the law.
