Kenyan Wins Coveted Fashion Award in Toronto

Everline Aboka, the Kenyan model based in Canada and winner of the prestigious Top Model Worldwide title has won another coveted award.

Everline took home the African Canadian Model of the Year award at the African Fashion Industry Awards, after her sterling performance at the African Fashion Week in Toronto.

She also bagged the Model Award “for her support to the models during the competition, a spirit that is never present in contestants competing for the same title in any competition”, according an online statement.

“I was honoured to receive the African Canadian Model of the year Award. A big thank you to African Fashion Week Toronto,” Everline wrote on her Facebook page, thanking everyone who has been instrumental in her career, “for being part of this journey, without you all these awards wouldn’t be this special.”

The Kisumu-bred model began modelling professionally in Kenya in 2005 and has several awards to her name with the most recent being in April 2013 when she trounced models from more than 47 countries to win the coveted Top Model World Wide in London, United Kingdom.

Other accolades include Miss International Woman 2006 and 2007, Miss Wakilisha Na Trust Kenya 2006, M-Net Face of Africa Finalist 2008, Miss World Kenya Finalist 2009 among others. A philanthropist, Aboka plans to build a rescue centre for street children in Kisumu through her organisation-Hope Africa Foundation.
