MPs endorse Jubilee Alliance Party at close of retreat

The Jubilee Parliamentary Group today endorsed and approved the formation of the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) to strengthen the political movement and consolidate its unity.

All constituent and affiliated parties will be consulted in developing a roadmap towards the ultimate merger into the new political outfit, the Parliamentary Group said.

The announcement was part of the resolutions passed on Saturday at the closing of a two-day Jubilee Parliamentarians’ retreat in Naivasha that was also addressed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“To ensure that no one is left behind, the Parliamentary Group shall consult all constituent and affiliate parties in developing a roadmap towards the ultimate merger into a new party,” said a statement read to the press by National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale.

The PG also resolved to unanimously support the Jubilee Alliance candidate in the Kajiado Central Parliamentary by-election.

The legislators, at the same time, agreed that the Jubilee National Assembly and Senate Parliamentary groups will work as a team at both Houses.

“This will enable the Alliance to develop greater synergies and accelerate the Jubilee Alliance’s transformational momentum. A united parliamentary group will effectively drive Government agenda in both Houses of Parliament,” the statement said in part.

The Parliamentary Group reviewed the status of the implementation of the Jubilee Manifesto and expressed its satisfaction at its achievement.

Affirming their role in the execution and delivery of the Jubilee vision, the Parliamentarians resolved to strengthen their participation and oversight to ensure that by 2017, the Alliance will return a good report to Kenyans.

The PG emphasized the need to improve the working relations between the National Executive and Parliament, especially between Members of Parliament and Cabinet Secretaries.

The Jubilee Parliamentary Group declared its unwavering support for Deputy President William Ruto and Journalist Joshua Sang as they defend their innocence before the International Criminal Court.
