Meet Sharon Njuguna aka Penzi Amani. A Seattle-based gospel artist that’s setting the Diaspora gospel scene ablaze with message-filled tracks of hope, reconciliation and God’s steadfast love.

She states that she’s loved music from a very tender age, “ I started singing when I was five years old, we would have functions at home and me and my cousins would do routines dances and we would sing together. I continued in school, I would perform during school functions, during Christian Union (CU) events and church services….”

While a new entrant into the gospel music scene in the Diaspora she has curved out a name for herself with a trio of gospel hits PENZI LIMETIMIA, YAHWEH and the latest single MILELE DAIMA that have been dominating the charts and resonating with a mixed listenership here in the US.

She says that her music is inspired by whats going on in her life and that of people around her. For Yahweh, Penzi Amani confides that she was going through a difficult time when she felt helpless. She adds that her writing is directly influenced by life, “Its experiences that i’ve had, to which i pursue God and then he deposit’s a word”.

And in Milele Daima who’s tone is distinctive from the previous tracks, she explains that while it conveys a romantic mood that could be used in a couples setting, the song is properly addressed to a love relationship between her and her God and that she actually wrote the song during a moment of prayer.

Based in Seattle Washington and now in her eighth year in the US, Penzi Amani and acknowledges that Diaspora life is not always a bed of roses and presents a lot of derailments from one’s dreams. She encourages fellow Diasporans and especially upcoming artists to hold on to their dreams and to not give up hope until they achieve their goals.

Penzi Amani is grateful to her Pastor Steve Ndegwa of Jubillee Covenant Center – Kent WA  (and where she sings with the worship team) for networking her with an A class production team of Billy Frank and award winning Nairobi-based video producer Jebril Blessing. Also in her thank list is Davies Chirwa of DC Productions who’s helped her acclimate to the industry’s intricacies to which she’s still a newbie.

As for now, she’s busy in the studio gearing up for her next release – coming out soon.
