The appointments are for a period of three years starting April 17.

Uhuru made 302 appointments to 79 state corporations, representative of all communities in Kenya, State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said in a statement.

“In terms of Mwongozo guidelines and Executive Order No 6 on Integrity, the new parastatal executives will be expected to make a public declaration on fighting corruption,” Manoah said.

The appointments come nearly 18 months after parastatals were appraised. The President appointed a taskforce which evaluated their structure, operations, management policies and governance, Manoah said.

The findings were used to determine how the parastatals contribute to and transform national development.

He said the administration tapped into the wisdom, experience and knowledge of senior citizens and embraced the energy, enthusiasm and innovation of the youth.

“Currently at 31 per cent, women, youth and persons with disabilities will comprise a significant share of the appointments once the exercise is concluded – higher than at any other time in our history,” he noted.

The appointments are in line with the government’s transformative agenda and were published in a special issue of the Kenya Gazette published today.
