Thugs burn MCA cars after they failed to access her house

Thugs raided the home of Gatuanyaga MCA Cecilia Mwangi in Thika East, Kiambu, early Wednesday morning and burnt her posh cars after they failed to access her house.

The incident appeared to have been an assassination attempt. A source said the thugs ordered Mwangi to open the door to her house but she declined.

They then tried to cut the door’s grill but were unsuccessful. The thugs then set the cars on fire and fled. A neighbour said they heard a siren blaring and gunshots at 2am.

The source said that when they checked what was happening, they found Mwangi’s four cars burning. Mwangi’s guard is reported to have gone into hiding after he saw the criminals were armed.

Firefighters arrived when the vehicles had already burnt. Nearby AP officers arrived after police manning a road block and those from Makongeni and Thika police stations had arrived.

“The APs are hired by Delmonte to guard their fruits at our expense,” said a resident. The resident said that when they report crimes in the area, the police tell them to go and come back with the offender.

Residents said APs are also hired in Witeithie estate to guard Ndarugu Quarries. The source said crime in the area has increased. When the press arrived at the scene in the morning, the MCA and her family had left.
