US-based Kenyan hip-hop artiste Barasa Onjwang’ aka Makeke is planning to set up a state-of-the-art music recording studio at his rural Mtongwe town in Mombasa as a way of giving back to society.
The music career of the former KDF soldier, who is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been doing well in the US, where he has recorded more than 16 tracks with some of America’s most popular record houses including Grandma, Sound Barrier, Rhythm House and Head-Knock Llc. He also has an upcoming project with Roastram Studios.
Makeke, who also owns a video and photography company (Makeke Family Pictures), says music is a viable business venture.
Among the hit songs he has released include Full Mandundu and Ibilisi, which he featured Mombasa-based hip-hop crew Uko Flani. Makeke will be releasing his latest album titled Ishakuwa Danger mid this year.
