Uhuru sends Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua to war torn Mandera

The Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua is currently in Mandera listening to residents’ grievances following a terrorist attack on Saturday that left 28 people dead.

Kinyua is representing President Uhuru Kenyatta who is still away in Abu Dhabi, he was expected back in the country on Monday.

Kenyatta has written to all security agencies asking them to intensify investigations in regard to the Mandera attack.

During the meeting that is being attended by senior security officers from both the military and police, residents aired their grievances but were happy that security has been beefed up in the area.

The deadly attack has led to a strike by health workers based in Mandera while KNUT has also told its members working in Mandera to boycott duties until their security is assured.

Out of the 28 people killed, 23 of them were teachers going back home for the December holiday.

Dawa Integrated Primary School lost 7 teachers in the Al shabaab attack.

Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday in a press briefing said that 100 Al Shabaab had been killed by the Kenya Defence Force, but Al Shabaab rubbished the claims.
