Worst call for a Diaspora:Death of a Bishop

Bishop
Bishop David Nganga of Nakuru

The Death of a Bishop and a Priest: Bishop David Nganga of Nakuru.

The worst call for a Diaspora is those midnight to 6am calls from Kenya. The family members, though being informed that day is night and night is day in North and South America, ignore the instructions and call when there is tragedy. My moment of shock came around 1am while in Florida I got a call that my late brother John had just passed away. I remember my last conversation on phone with him as if it was yesterday. It took me several days to come to terms with the unexpected loss of my late brother.

The loss made me believe more than ever before that tragedies do happen close to home and for this case, in Kenya where I am today.

Like the passing away of Africa Inland Church (Nakuru Area Church Council) Bishop David Nganga. I have never seen a man of the cloth so committed to theological and doctrinal learning. The bishop believed that the Bible had so much more to offer more than answered prayers; that the clergy must commit themselves to study; that the whole of Pauline letters are about building the church on the foundation of Christ within proper Doctrines!

This building, according to him, was being ignored in Kenya and needed to be re-established to avoid heresy. In order to fulfill his vision, he organized seminars and partnered with others as means of encouraging all those pastors under him to seek this unending cup of knowledge.

The community of faith in Nakuru, have lost a visionary man, a dear friend to me, a friend and fellow witness in Christ.

There is a tendency within church circles when a pastor dies to abandon the close family. Those of us who know the truth should not only pray for them at this time of trial, but should also text the family, support financially and resolve to proclaim to the children that he was one of us.

His Son’s number is 254-701846771. The children should never fail to join the ministry because the saints failed them after the passing of the father!

His Body will be laid to REST on Tuesday in Nakuru.
