Keianne Denise Shelton, 34, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was charged in the deaths of Jorge Alfonso Gomez-Alvarado and Stanley Maina Kariuki.
Police said the two men, both 32, died in a three-car collision Aug. 21 on or near the intersection of 36th Street North and Cincinnati Avenue.
Shelton, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, was reportedly driving a 2003 Chevy Impala and ran a red light, striking the 2010 Nissan Altima driven by Gomez-Alvarado. Kariuki was reportedly a passenger of Gomez-Alvarado’s vehicle.
Shelton told police immediately after the accident she was frightened by gunshots in the area andwhen shewas speeding through the intersection.
According to church officials, Rev. Gomez-Alvarado was ordained about seven weeks before the collision. Both were returning to the church rectory from a barbecue and a Mass at the home of a Knights of Columbus member near Skiatook when the crash occurred.
