Anyang Nyongo Wants COTU’s Francis Atwoli To Apologise For Calling Him A Thief
JACKAL NEWS – Kenyan Cabinet Minister Anyang Nyongo wants Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary general Francis Atwoli to apologise for calling him a thief, failure to which he will sue him, according to a warning letter seen by the Jackal News.
During a fundraiser in aid of Neheme Institute, Atwoli said these words: “Even before investigations are over, he is around talking about the issue. He claims no money was stolen. He should be arrested and be prosecuted because we know workers’ money was stolen under his watch. Nyongo is a professor with many degrees but look at what is happening in his ministry. It is a shame and shows that education is not a measure of good leadership.”
Atwoli was apparently referring to NHIF scandal in which hundreds of millions of shillings was reportedly stolen in the dubious tender scheme for civil servants health insurance. Nyongo is demanding an apology, but it is unlikely that the COTU chief will concede.
