Shame:IEBC won’t accept nomination for a Kenyan with Dual Citizenship


Contrary to what the Diaspora Kenyans were made to understand by the politicians and IEBC official who made countless trips abroad, the  Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of Kenya does not allow Kenyans with dual citizenship to  vie for any electoral position in the Republic of Kenya, thanks to MP’s who inserted dubious clauses on the Election Act 2012.


A good case in point is Bishop Donald Mwawasi from Atlanta, Georgia. who is vying for the senatorial seat of Taita Taveta County. Bishop Mwawasi has been nominated by his party to run for the seat but the IEBC won’t accept his nomination papers because  he is a citizen of USA.

He is now involved in a bitter  legal battle  that has costed him  not only over half a million Kenyan shillings, but  precious  time for his campaign trail.

Kenyans living in Diaspora need to know about   this distressing position that IEBC holds  on Kenyans with  dual citizenship and  be careful next time politicians come promising heaven on earth.
