Tuesday January 15,2013 –Embakasi MP Ferninard Waititu akababa yao, has said he has a valid Bachelors’ Degree from Punjab University in India making him eligible to vie for Nairobi Governor on The National Alliance (TNA) ticket.
The controversial MP accused his rivals of tainting his name by raising doubts about his academic qualifications to lock him out of the Thursday’s party nominations.
In a press conference at parliament buildings on Monday, the lawmaker said his academic credentials are genuine and that he will present himself for nomination against businessman Jimnah Mbaru, former town clerk John Gakuo and Nairobi Business District Association chairman Timothy Muriuki.
“The party headquarters has cleared me alongside other aspirants. I am warning them to prepare for a tough battle,” Waititu said.
Meanwhile, NCBDA Chairman Timothy Muriuki has dropped his gubernatorial ambitions in favour of Jimnah Mbaru.
Muriuki said he dropped his bid after his supporters urged him to support Mbaru.
Mbaru will now face off with Waititu in TNA nominations on Thursday in which political pundits are terming it as the “toughest political battle in the history of the city”
