“Impartial and expeditious handling of election petitions was part of every democratic electoral process,” the statement added.

The EU Observation Election Mission published a preliminary statement shortly after election day in which its findings on the pre-election period and election day were published.

EU Chief Observer Alojz Peterle will publicly present the mission’s final assessment in Nairobi two months after the elections.

The report will provide detailed information about every aspect of the election process, and will include recommendations for future elections in the Republic of Kenya.
