Word of the Day:Reading God’s Word consistently

A story is told of a young man who got an opportunity to study abroad for his undergraduate degree. To help his Son Pete know the importance of daily obedient devotion, his father bought him a small, zipped Bible. The father then wrote a big cheque and hid it in the Bible. Peter then flew away but after a while he became very broke so he called his dad to step in and send money. In response to this Peter’s dad encouraged him to read the Bible, pray and obey. Thinking his dad was too spiritual; the son kept the bible away and decided to hustle for survival.

After two years of hard living he came back home furious. He could not understand how his loving dad let him suffer so much. He vented on his father about how uncaring and unloving he was and when he was through, the father took out the cheque from the Bible and gave it to his son.

Everything we need is found in God. God is His word. In the book of John it says in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. To be in step with the will of God we must be in his word by reading and meditating upon it consistently. Knowing God’s word will give us better results as we will be walking in his will however, Ignorance will cost us so much more. Let’s remember to read our Bible and pray every day.

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
Joshua 1:8
