Wow:Five Kenyan brothers walk their brides down the aisle on the same day

Residents of Nakuru on Saturday witnessed a one-of-a-kind wedding as five brothers tied the knot with their loved ones all on the same day.

The ceremony at St Peters Catholic Church on the outskirts of Nakuru town attracted hundreds of people.

The decision by the brothers aged between 36 and 24 to wed on the same day came seven months ago after a priest challenged them at their father’s home.

The priest was presiding over a thanksgiving Mass at the home of Mr James Kago when he asked how many people would receive the holy sacrament. None of Mr Kago’s sons or their wives raised a hand.

This was because the Catholic Church does not allow cohabiting couples to receive the Eucharist until they are legally married.

“Afterwards they consulted as a family and decided to initiate the process. Initially, they had considered wedding in intervals starting with the first born, but they later reasoned that it would be cheaper and faster to marry on the same day.

And so on Saturday the five couples danced down the aisle with their children as flower girls and page boys to fulfill this very important obligation.

“It was not very easy but unity kept us strong,” said Mr Samson Wachira, the family’s first born.-nation.co.ke
