The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will on Thursday receive a bull and a goat to celebrate the birth of their baby, Prince George.
A women’s group from Ilsapache Village in Samburu County will present the gift of a fattened black bull and goat to the British High Commissioner to Kenya, Dr Christian Turner.
The group and other cultural leaders in Namunyak, Samburu, have agreed that the bull will be used to start a royal herd, a statement from the British High Commission in Nairobi indicated.
“There has been an offer of four heifers to go with the bull, and the Northern Rangelands Trust have agreed to keep this nucleus herd at Lewa,” the High Commission said in the statement.
Dr Turner will receive the animals on behalf of the royal family during a ceremony organised by the cultural leaders with assistance from the rage lands trust at Wamba in Samburu County.
“This is going to be a significant event for Namunyak. They are bringing many women’s groups, elders and cattle, setting up a boma,” the High Commission’s communications officer Joy Odero said.
Samburu Senator Sammy Leshore will host Mr Turner and the Ministry of Tourismofficials on behalf of the people of the area.- Daily Nation
