Word of the Day:God Looks at the Heart

1st Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the Heart.”

A couple was stopped at a railroad crossing to allow a train to pass. As they waited in the line of cars, a driver next to them suddenly moved from the line of cars and went to the next available railroad crossing. The husband then turned to his wife and asked her in great indignation who did the driver think he was to jump the queue.

As soon as the words were out, the other driver jumped out of the car with a camera in hand and started taking pictures of the oncoming train. The couple then realized they had judged his motives, and their assumption was definitely wrong.

Although we can observe behavior and outward appearance, only God can see the heart. When we find ourselves ready to judge another person’s motive, let’s pause and remember that only God can see the heart. Our responsibility is to let the Lord and His Word convict us about our own hearts.
