DEVOTION: THIS “TIME” IS IMPORTANT TO GOD-Pastor Shadrack Ruto

DEVOTION: THIS “TIME” IS IMPORTANT TO GOD-Pastor Shadrack Ruto

DEVOTION: THIS “TIME” IS IMPORTANT TO GOD-Pastor Shadrack RutoEven though, God is not bound by time and operates outside the limits of time, His operations here on earth are timed and happen according to His plan. We see in Genesis Chapter 1 how God created the concept of time. After finishing everything that He created in each of the creation days, we encounter this repeated phrase,

So the evening and the morning were the second day. Genesis 1:8b

Right from the beginning of this book of Matthew, we see that time is important to God. Nothing happens randomly. To state it differently, heavenly operations, though difficult for us to understand, are planned according to a set time. Notice the precise timing in the following statement.

Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah. Matthew 1:17

Did you know that the coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ happened at a precise set time? Read the following passage.

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Galatians 4:4-5

APPLICATION:

  1. If time is of great value to God, how should our attitude be like toward time?
  2. The Apostle Paul tells us the following concerning time

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16

  1. Because none of us knows when our time here on earth will come to an end, we should make sure every day counts for eternity for in the end, it will be that which we have invested in eternity that counts.
  2. May be you have also relaxed on your expectation of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ thinking that it has taken long since you heard about it. May be you have began to think that He will not come in our lifetime. Here are three things that help me to keep my perspective in the right place.
    1. First, I need to worry more about accomplishing the mission that God has assigned to me for this will determine my rewards in heaven whether Christ comes today or five more decades to come.
    2. I am not sure how much time I have here on earth. Therefore, I need to redeem the time by maximizing the God given time at this moment. I know each of us has a set of time given by God to live here on earth.
    3. Peter the Apostle also reminds me of God’s perspective on time.

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8

  1. Develop your own slogan for time. Anything that will help you keep the right perspective on time. Share with me what you come up with.

See then that you walk circumspectly

Not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time,

 Because the days are evil.

 Ephesians 5:15-16
