Harambee Stars crowned Cecafa Champions after beating Sudan 2-0

Harambee Stars are this year’s GOtv Cecafa Senior Challenge champions.

Allan Wanga scored twice to propel the national team into victory on a day that Kenya celebrated her 50 years of independence.

Huge expectations had weighed on the shoulders of the Adel Amrouche coached side who confounded the pessimists to sail to the final, their second in as many year after edging out a stubborn Tanzanian side 1-0 in a closely contested semis on Tuesday evening.

Amrouche, 45, had maintained that his key focus was to hand Kenya a perfect 50th birthday present by winning the title.

For that to become a reality Kenya maintained the same tactical discipline they exhibited against Kilimanjaro Stars in wet and difficult conditions to hold onto a slim 1-0 lead for 85 minutes.–nation.co.ke
