Inspiration:Like/unlike a child

“At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.  And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:1-4)

While on earth, Jesus taught and gave several examples using the little ones. He emphasized the need to have a child like attitude. What Jesus did not teach is to behave like a child in every aspect of life. How do you mean? There are certain things that children do which ought not to be done by the adults. Like which ones

Yesterday I went to a grocery store (Cub foods) and decided to behave like a child. I wanted to see how people will react and boy did I learn something. Here is what happened. I decided to use the trainer basket/cart that is meant for the little ones.  Things did not go well at all. People looked at me as if I were crazy acting like a baby. It was then that another passage came into my mind. This was written by the apostle Paul. It reads:

“When I was a child, I talked like a child; I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.”(1 Corinthian 13:11)

So, while Jesus wants us to have a child like attitude He does not expect us to behave like children. I got the message and will be careful lest I behave or do things like children.
