Barely a week after presenting one of the most thought-provoking exposes this year, ace investigative reporter, Dennis Okari, is leaving NTV, Ghafla! has just confirmed.
An unnamed source at NTV close to Okari reveals that the illustrious journalist is expected to hand over his official duties to the next person on Monday. Okari was approached by BBC World Service and offered a position, understandably, that was previously held by the late Komla Dumor of the main presenter of Focus on Africa.
Completed, Okari is expected to relocate to the UK, the home for BBC but our source intimates that he’s likely to lobby for a continental post since “he had just started settling down with his expectant girlfriend, KTN’s Betty Kyalo.”
We are made to understand that Okari is thrilled with this opportunity since he was the one selected out of some of the best journalists that Africa has to offer.
The late Komla Dumor
However, the sources couldn’t reveal more about the deal but assures us that it’s a permanent position.
Attempts to reach Okari for a comment were futile as his phone was off for a better part of Friday.
Okari joined NTV in August 2013 as a Senior Investigative & Crime Reporter after Kiss TV partly shut down to restructure.
Ghafla! wishes him all the best as he takes up his new role.
