The seat fell vacant on February 13 after the Court of Appeal nullified the election of Mary Wambui as MP.

Judges said there were numerous discrepancies in the transposition of votes in Forms 35 and 36, adding that the High Court should have ordered a scrutiny and recount.

However, two weeks later, Ms Wambui could still be seen in Parliament making contributions on the floor of the House.

Speaker Justin Muturi said he was yet to receive communication showing that the MP had lost the seat.

On Monday, the IEBC gave parties two weeks to pick those who will contest the seat.

Three candidates from The National Alliance party have already declared their interest.
