We live in a culture where people are desperate to know their future. This desperation leads many to turn to psychics and mediums for answers–a practice forbidden in the Bible. Some are also easily swindled to pay money so as to get people prophesying over their lives. This however is not a new practice because the Israelites went through this too.
The Israelites were desperate to know their future and God knew that they would be tempted to consult ungodly sources for answers. So He clearly warned them to stay away from mediums. Such practices could prevent them from being a holy nation who would be a blessing to all nations.
The what of our future is determined by God. Relying on mediums and psychics indicates a failure to trust the Lord with our lives and future. When we become desperate for information about our future, let us turn to our heavenly Father who holds all the answers we seek.
