Word of the Day:Amazing grace

‘Grace is the voice that calls us to change and then gives us the power to pull it off.’~ Max Lucado

Only those of us who are saved can understand and appreciate salvation; the rest of the world think we are missing out on life and see us as fools or cowards too afraid to have real fun. Just as scripture says, ‘for the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.’ But we in turn know just how broken they really are. The Lord Jesus has granted us eyes of insight as he is healing us of our brokenness and we can understand just why the world acts as they do; they are hurting and dying inside and they try every which way to hide it from each other.

Salvation is by grace. We who were brought out of the darkness did not deserve this grace but God out of his love and mercy chose to bring us out; we could still be out there fumbling in darkness and pining in brokenness and pain. It is therefore important not to boast of our works or our own goodness. There are some Christians who think of themselves as better than others and therefore look down on other people.

The minute you think of yourself as a better person than another, you have become guilty of self-righteousness which is abomination to God. His grace saved you through his son Jesus Christ; it is only because of what Jesus did that we have a chance to stand before the father. So take your eyes off what you think is your goodness and behold Jesus.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
Ephesians 2:8
