Word of the Day:Ask, seek and knock

‘Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one’s weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.’~ Mahatma Gandhi

God is our Father. Some of us grew up without fathers or some with emotionally absentee fathers. Some fathers though present, deserted their children and failed to provide for them. Some of us had model fathers who though disappointing us sometimes, were always there for us; we all fall into one of the above mentioned categories. When we are utterly hurt, rejected and disappointed by our earthly fathers, we have no emotional response to the fact that God is a good father instead we tend to project the hurts our earthly fathers laid on us to him.

God is indeed a good father and he will never turn us away from him when we come crying to him as a child would. He is always eager to pick us up when we fall, and rejoice with us in our victories. He likes when we praise him and acknowledge him for the good father he is. We should quit projecting the hurts our earthly fathers inflicted on us on God.

We should also not be afraid to ask him to bless us, provide for us and protect us. Everything in the earth is his and he freely gives to his children. He is eager to show us his greatness and we should ask him for what we want to see manifest in our lives. As scripture tells us, if he gave us his son, will he not freely give us everything else?

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ”
Philippians 4:6
