Just like with you I have met and interacted with many people in my life. Some of these people have brought out the best in me while some have brought out the worst in me. One of the things I notice about Christ is that He also interacted with lots of people and as long as they had an open heart and they were willing, Jesus added value to their lives. I am thinking of the disciples who were just common men and their interaction with Jesus made them the great men of God we read about today. Think about the woman at the well in John 4. Though culturally Jesus was not even supposed to talk to her, he did and not to condemn her for she had had many men and the man she was currently living with was not her husband. Jesus instead added value to her life.
Remember the woman caught in the act of adultery in John 8. Jesus added value to her life, He gave her back her dignity.You and I have been entrusted with the good news of the kingdom and each and every day God brings people our way giving us the opportunity to demonstrate His love.He has commanded us to preach this gospel to the ends of this earth because as we embrace this message it adds value to our life. The big question is do we add value to those God brings your way or will you make them feel more worthless? I notice that Jesus interacted with those we could consider low in society. The sinners and what he did, was encourage and add value to their life. If we were to be honest many times these are the kind of people that we do not want to be associated with.
What are you going to do with the people God brings your way today? Will you add value to their life or will you devalue them? What you see in them will determine your interaction and what you deposit in them. If you see them as an individual that Christ died for them, you will seek to add value to their life. If they are not born again you will expose the Christ in you to them so that they can experience His grace and mercy. If they are born again you will seek to encourage and challenge them to continue running the race that has been set before them. Determine right now to be the kind of person who will add value to the lives of those God brings your way today!
Jesus told them, “Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen- the blind see, the lame walk, the leaper’s are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the good news is preached to the poor
